Wanda Wiłkomirska

Wanda Wiłkomirska was a renowned Polish violinist born in 1929, who left an indelible mark on the world of music until her passing in 2018. Her versatile repertoire spanned both classical and 20th-century music, earning her widespread acclaim for her interpretations. Wiłkomirska's contributions to promoting Polish music globally were recognized with two Polish State Awards, in addition to other prestigious honors for her dedication to the field.

Throughout her career, Wiłkomirska was committed to showcasing contemporary works, delivering world premiere performances of pieces by notable composers such as Tadeusz Baird and Krzysztof Penderecki. She had the privilege of performing on a historic violin crafted by Pietro Guarneri in 1734, in Venice. Wiłkomirska also shared her expertise as an academic teacher at esteemed music academies in Mannheim and Sydney, imparting her knowledge and passion for music to future generations.
