Joseph Bau

Joseph Bau was a multifaceted creative figure, born in 1920 in Poland, who later became a prominent artist and writer in Israel. His life took a dramatic turn during World War II, as he was sent to the Brünnlitz labor camp, which was operated by the German industrialist Oskar Schindler. It was during this period that Bau's resilience and determination enabled him to find moments of hope and love, including a secret wedding to his wife Rebecca Tennenbaum in the Kraków-Płaszów concentration camp.
After the war, Bau established himself in Israel, where he developed a successful career as a graphic artist, animator, and poet. His work in animation earned him a notable reputation, with some even referring to him as the "Israeli Walt Disney". Through his various creative pursuits, Bau was able to express his imagination and talent, leaving a lasting legacy in the world of literature and art. He passed away in 2002, at the age of 82, leaving behind a remarkable body of work that continues to inspire and captivate audiences to this day.
