Yefim Gorodetsky was a prominent Soviet historian, specializing in the historiography of the October Revolution and the establishment of the Soviet state. Born in 1907, he pursued his advanced education at Moscow State University, where he later held a teaching position. This affiliation with MSU played a significant role in his academic career, allowing him to contribute to the field of history through both research and education.

Gorodetsky's work was widely recognized, and in 1943, he was awarded the State Prize of the USSR for his contribution to a historical account of the Russian Civil War.
